Hood Construction announces new teammates & team promotion

Hood Construction shared a few team updates. Jennifer Barfield has been named Senior Project Coordinator, and two new additions to the team have been made: Ryan Kerr as Assistant Project Manager and Houston Reed as Assistant Estimator.
After 10 years with Hood Construction, Jennifer Barfield has been promoted from Project Coordinator to Senior Project Coordinator. Throughout her tenure, Jennifer has worked very closely with project owners and Hood’s project managers to ensure all planning and coordination for all medical projects. In her role as Senior Project Coordinator, she will oversee planning between partners, lead project coordination, and continue to drive successful project delivery.

As Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Ryan Kerr is expanding his project experience throughout the state. Ryan joins Hood with over 2 years of project management experience, successfully contributing to several diverse projects throughout the state, including office buildings, medical office upfits, car dealerships, historic renovations, and more. Ryan has a proven track record of successfully and consistently delivering projects on time, under budget, and at the highest standard of quality control. In his role at Hood, Ryan is furthering his experience in field management as he collaborates with key team members and project management staff throughout the pre-construction and construction process to ensure all goals are met or exceeded on each project.

A Lexington, SC native, Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken with his BA in Business Administration. He now resides in the Midlands with his wife.
As Assistant Estimator, Houston Reed supports Hood’s pre-construction team by ensuring all clients’ projects are in budget by communicating with subcontractors regarding pricing and preparing estimates, cost presentations, and scope sheets. In the summer of 2020, Houston Reed joined Hood Construction as an intern while studying Business Management at Clemson University. Houston returned to Hood each summer following as an intern, assisting our project team both on-site and in the office, gaining hands-on experience. Throughout his time at Hood, he’s gained valuable insight into pricing by working alongside lead estimator, Dwight Williams, on several projects of all sizes throughout the state.
“After interning at Hood for many years, I am excited to be here full-time. My time as an intern prepared me for many of the obstacles that we face in estimating on a day-to-day basis. I look forward to what is to come in the future here at Hood,” said Houston Reed, Hood Construction Assistant Estimator.
Houston graduated from Clemson University in the Spring of 2025 and now resides back in his hometown in Columbia.
