South Carolina goes pink: a statewide campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer
October 23, 2025The South Carolina Cancer Alliance (SCCA) announced this month the launch of South Carolina Goes Pink, a statewide campaign running October 1–31 in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in South Carolina and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. By uniting communities across all 46 counties, SC Goes Pink shines a spotlight on the importance of early detection, celebrates survivors, and honors the lives lost to this disease.
Throughout October, schools, businesses, faith groups, and community organizations will “Go Pink” by hosting events, wearing pink, sharing stories, and spreading life-saving messages. Together, these efforts raise awareness, encourage preventative action, and support families touched by breast cancer.
“Behind every statistic is a mother, sister, daughter, or friend. South Carolina Goes Pink is about showing survivors they are not alone and reminding every woman in our state that early detection saves lives,” said Nicole Echols, Chief Executive Officer of the South Carolina Cancer Alliance.
Funds raised during the campaign will support SCCA’s work to spread breast cancer education, promote screenings, and empower communities with resources and survivor support.
