Upcoming Main Road Segment A meeting to include transportation sales tax public input session

October 26, 2025

Charleston County Public Works officials will host a quarterly public meeting for the Main Road Corridor Segment A project on October 29, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Saint John’s High School, located at 1518 Main Road.

In addition to Segment A project updates, this meeting will also serve as a Transportation Sales Tax (TST) public input session, giving residents an opportunity to share ideas and priorities that will help guide future transportation, transit, and green space investments across Charleston County.

The TST public input process, now underway at CharlestonTransportation.com, also includes a countywide survey inviting residents to share their transportation priorities, challenges, and project ideas. Responses gathered online and in-person will guide County Council as they consider how an estimated $4.25 billion could be invested in future improvements if the tax were extended.

The survey asks participants to rate the importance of each of the following potential investment categories:

  • Roadway Infrastructure: Fixing bottlenecks, paving, and improving rural road safety
  • Transit Service Expansion & Lowcountry Rapid Transit (LCRT): Improving bus service, access, and connectivity
  • Bike & Pedestrian Network: Closing network gaps and enhancing safety for cyclists and walkers
  • Greenbelt Program: Parks, waterways, and protective land purchases that enhance quality of life

Residents can also suggest additional investments and recommend how future funding should be allocated across key areas. The survey is open through December 1, 2025, and residents are encouraged to complete it and share the link widely to ensure broad community input.

In addition to the online survey, Charleston County will continue to host TST listening sessions and stakeholder meetings throughout the fall. Community groups and organizations may also request a county speaker to attend an upcoming event through the website.
