League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area provides VOTE411 election website
October 28, 2025The League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
As part of the LWVCA’s Voter Registration and Education program, the League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area participates in the LWVUS national website, VOTE411.org, an online resource with voting information for upcoming elections at the local, state and national levels.
A unique feature of the VOTE411 online voter education tool the information obtained from direct outreach to candidates in upcoming elections before the election. Local Leagues of Women Voters such as the League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area, contact candidates who have filed for election requesting their contact information for voters and presenting them with a set of questions relevant to the current election to which they can respond for publication on the VOTE411 website.Â
Sara Phillips, President, League of Women Voters of the Columbia Area shares, “The VOTE411 online guide gives candidates the opportunity to speak directly to the public about local issues. Voters can use the guide to check registration and when, where and how to vote. Voters can enter an address and find out who’s running and where they stand on issues.”Â
VOTE411 serves as an online resource for Richland and Lexington County voters to help them to prepare for Election Day. The online voter resource provides information about early voting, absentee voting, finding your polling place and how to prepare to vote.Â
Helpful facts to remember before November 4, 2025, Election Day:
- Early voting ends on October 31, 2025, at your county elections office. If you chose to vote by absentee ballot, remember to mail your absentee ballot or bring it in person to your county elections office by 7 pm on Election Day. Ballots returned by mail should be mailed no later than one week prior to election day to help ensure timely delivery.
- Photo IDs are required to vote in South Carolina. Acceptable forms of photo ID are SC Driver’s License, SC DMV ID Card, SC Voter Registration Card with Photo, Federal Military ID, or US Passport.Â
- The Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office is located at 605 W. Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072.
- The Richland County Voter Registration and Elections Office is located at 2020 Hampton Street, Columbia, SC 29202.Â
