October 30, 2025

Southeastern Freight Lines, a leading provider of regional less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation services, has been recognized as a 2025 Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women in Trucking Association (WIT).

“We’re proud to be recognized for fostering an environment where women can thrive and lead,” said Melissa Atkins, vice president of linehaul transportation. “At Southeastern, we believe that building an inclusive culture isn’t just the right thing to do – it’s essential to our success. Our female associates bring critical insight, leadership and innovation to every part of our business. This recognition affirms our commitment to creating opportunities for all team members to grow, contribute and succeed.”

WIT is a non-profit organization with a mission to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize the obstacles they face. Its annual Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation award recognizes companies with exemplary corporate cultures that foster gender diversity, competitive compensation and benefits, flexible work requirements, professional development opportunities and more.

“Many companies in the transportation industry take serious steps to recruit and retain a diverse workforce,” said Brian Everett, group publisher and editorial director of Redefining the Road. “Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women in Trucking Association, is pleased to name Southeastern Freight Lines as a 2025 Top Company for Women to Work in Transportation. Southeastern has demonstrated that it places a significant importance on gender diversity as part of its business strategy and is to be commended for the work in diversity that it is doing.”

WIT is hosting a conference and exposition in Dallas, Texas from November 9-12, where Atkins will accept the prestigious award.
