Laurens County Native Dawson Green Completes NYC Marathon
November 5, 2025Laurens County native Dawson Green crossed the finish line of the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday with a time of 4 hours and 25 minutes, completing an incredible personal and philanthropic journey that began months ago in memory of his late brother and in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Green, who set out to raise $3,500 for the cause, surpassed his goal—bringing in $3,900 in donations as of this week.
“Running the NYC Marathon and raising money for charity was such a rewarding experience,” Green shared. “I’m so grateful for all the support and donations that I received during this process.”
Training for the marathon began the last week of June, requiring a steady commitment through the heat of summer and into fall. “Every week for the last four months has been spent running countless miles—over 400 miles during training—but it has taught me so much about myself mentally and physically,” he said.
The New York City Marathon, which draws runners from around the world, marked a major milestone for Green as both an athlete and advocate. His participation honored his brother’s memory while helping provide comfort and care for families with children undergoing medical treatment.
“I’m humbled by the generosity of so many people who helped make this possible,” Green said. “It’s an experience I’ll never forget.”
