SCETV explores aging and caregiving in new episode of Impact South Carolina and live episode of Palmetto Perspectives
November 9, 2025South Carolina ETV (SCETV) announced the premiere of a new episode of IMPACT South Carolina as well as an opportunity for the public to be part of the live studio audience for Palmetto Perspectives on Nov. 13. The public is invited to watch the IMPACT South Carolina episode titled “The Silver Tsunami,” followed by a live broadcast of the SCETV series, Palmetto Perspectives, which will include a thoughtful discussion on aging, caregiving and planning for the future.
IMPACT South Carolina is an investigative series produced by SCETV, created to explore significant issues impacting South Carolinians. The newest episode, “The Silver Tsunami,” examines the realities of aging as the United States approaches a demographic milestone. By 2030, older adults will outnumber children for the first time in history. The program explores the interconnected challenges of aging, from housing and healthcare to finances, legal planning, caregiving, lifestyle and more. The program also highlights the need for individuals to prepare for the changes that come with growing older.
The episode features interviews with professionals from the South Carolina Department on Aging and visits to senior centers and retirement communities across the state. It also shares the personal stories of individuals representing different experiences on aging, from those who remain independent at home to those living in assisted care settings. Through these perspectives, “The Silver Tsunami” raises awareness about the issues every South Carolinian may consider when it comes to aging for themselves and their loved ones.
IMPACT South Carolina will premiere on ETV on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., followed by the live episode of Palmetto Perspectives at 7:45 p.m.
Palmetto Perspectives is an SCETV community engagement-focused series that brings stakeholders together to discuss pressing issues facing South Carolina and its communities. The new episode, titled “Parenting Our Parents,” will feature community leaders, caregiving professionals and family advocates who will explore the emotional, financial and practical aspects of caring for aging loved ones. SCETV host Thelisha Eaddy will lead the discussion on navigating caregiving responsibilities, planning for the future and maintaining open family communication about aging needs.
The public is invited to attend as part of the studio audience for the live episode of Palmetto Perspectives on Nov. 13. Filmed at the SCETV studios in Columbia, attendees will view the episode of IMPACT South Carolina and then hear the discussions during Palmetto Perspectives. Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a screening of IMPACT South Carolina at 6:45 p.m. The live broadcast of Palmetto Perspectives will start promptly at 7:45 p.m. and conclude by 8:30 p.m. Seating is limited, and early registration to participate in the live broadcast is encouraged.
More information about IMPACT South Carolina and Palmetto Perspectives, including re-broadcast dates and viewing options, is available on the SCETV website. Palmetto Perspectives will also livestream simultaneously with the broadcast on SCETV’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
