Jan’s Van bringing free mammogram screenings to Irmo this January

November 10, 2025

Union United Methodist Church in Irmo will host Jan’s Van, a state-of-the-art Full Field Digital Mammography unit, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The mobile service, provided by Lexington Medical Center, will offer free mammogram screenings to eligible women in the Midlands area.

Annual mammogram screenings remain a vital component of preventive healthcare, offering early detection that can significantly improve breast cancer outcomes. Jan’s Van is named in memory of Jan Croft and has provided free mammography services at Union United Methodist Church since 2021.

“This is a convenient and accessible opportunity for women to complete their annual mammogram,” said Katherine Keckeisen, coordinator of the event. “The screening takes only about 10 minutes and is available right here in the Irmo community.”

Lexington Medical Center will file health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid claims on behalf of participants. For those without insurance coverage, the cost of the screening will be fully covered to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent access to care.

Individuals interested in scheduling an appointment for the January 20 screening should contact Katherine Keckeisen at [email protected] for registration forms and additional information.

Since its inception, Jan’s Van has played an important role in promoting women’s health across the Midlands, honoring Jan Croft’s legacy through its ongoing commitment to community wellness and preventive care.
