Hood Construction, Moseley Architects celebrates SLED Pee Dee regional office grand opening

On October 28th, Hood Construction and Moseley Architects joined the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to celebrate the grand opening of their new regional office in Florence County. Located on the campus of Francis Marion University, the 10,000-square-foot facility will serve as a home for SLED Pee Dee’s Special Agents and non-sworn support staff, as well as a learning space for students studying criminal justice at FMU.
The new facility is SLED’s first standalone regional office in South Carolina. The space houses both private and open staff offices, evidence storage, conference rooms, interview rooms, secured and unsecured storage rooms, a break room and full kitchen space, restroom facilities, and an emergency operations center.
The project teams of SLED, Hood Construction, and Moseley Architects worked in collaboration to complete the new regional headquarters early this spring.
“We enjoyed working alongside SLED and Moseley to bring SLED’s new regional office to fruition. Its completion marks a significant milestone in our efforts to support the state and our law enforcement professionals,” said Dean Wilson, Vice President of Construction Management.
Moseley Principal in Charge, Ben Whitener stated, “This SLED facility is a testament to what is possible when public agencies, contractors, architects, and engineers work together for a common goal. It reflects a shared commitment to safety, innovation, and service to the people of South Carolina.”
At the ribbon cutting, many members of the SLED community joined together to welcome the new facility to campus.
SLED Chief Mark Keel stated, “It gives us a home we can call our own, and we’re not worried about a lease every five years or every three years or whatever the case may be. Again, it was built, designed to do just what we need it to do.”
