Annual Membership Drive: Friends of the Georgetown Library
December 5, 2025Annual Membership Drive Underway
As 2025 draws to a close, the Friends of the Georgetown Library are reaching out to local residents and businesses to participate in its annual membership drive. The primary purpose of this initiative is to support vital programs for both children and adults who utilize the Georgetown Public Library.
Role and Impact of Friends
According to Robert Willey, president of the Friends of the Library, the organization plays a crucial role in supplementing county, state, and federal funding by providing designated financial support for various children’s programs. These programs include reading groups, music lessons, theater productions, craft supplies, snacks, and many other enriching activities.
Special Projects for 2026
Looking ahead to 2026, the Friends are also proud to support the installation of the Whispers of My Ancestor statue of Harriet Tubman and a young James Bowley at the entrance of the Children’s Reading Area. This significant project was made possible through more than $60,000 in donations from community members, complemented by a matching $60,000 donation from an anonymous donor outside the Georgetown area.
How to Join
Willey encourages all current members to renew their membership and invites new supporters to join for the first time as Friends of the Georgetown Library. Membership is available at two levels: $12 for individuals and $20 for families.
The easiest way to sign up is to go to their website and join online.
