Richland One Induction Teacher of the Year named finalist for SCATLL Award

Katie Purushotham, Richland One’s 2025-2026 Induction Teacher of the Year, has been named a finalist for the SC Association for Teaching, Learning and Leading (SCATLL)’s Induction Teacher of the Year Award.
Purushotham, a kindergarten teacher at Horrell Hill Elementary School, is one of five finalists for the award. She is also the first Richland One Induction Teacher of the Year to be named a finalist.
“I’m really surprised that I was named a finalist and to be the first for Richland One. This recognition represents how hard I was working last year and this year,” said Purushotham. “I’m really proud of what I’ve done to get here. I wouldn’t have done it without my teammates and my class.”
The Induction Teacher of the Year Award winner will be announced during the SCATLL’s Visible Learning 2.0 Conference at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center January 26.
