Law Firm employees and friends gather around Salvation Army red kettles for the fifth season
For the fifth year in a row, the Camden-based Mullikin Law Firm continued its annual Christmas tradition of ringing the bells for The Salvation Army with area volunteers gathering for their respective shifts Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Hobby Lobby in Camden.
Mullikin Law employees, friends of the firm, members of the Mullikin family, and community leaders volunteered throughout the day, greeting shoppers and collecting donations to support Salvation Army programs serving families across the Midlands.
“We’re proud to gather volunteers, support the Salvation Army’s mission, and help spread holiday cheer throughout our community,” said Maria Ouzounidis, Director of Public Affairs for the Mullikin Law Firm. “The holiday season reminds us of the importance of coming together for others, and this effort reflects that spirit.”
Kershaw County Councilman Derek Shoemake has volunteered to ring the bells with fellow Councilman Brant Tominson for the past three years. He said he “looks forward to participating each December” and is proud to support the cause.
Representatives from the Carolina Cup Racing Association also took part in the bell-ringing effort. “It is so nice to see generosity on display here in Camden,” said Hannah Marsh of the Carolina Cup Racing Association. “We are honored to stand with the Mullikin Law Firm and the Salvation Army to support such a worthy cause.”
Mrs. Virginia Ann Mullikin of the Mullikin Law Firm said volunteering and giving back to the community are especially important during the holiday season. “Ringing the bells serves as a powerful reminder of the impact we can have collectively,” she said. “We are grateful to everyone who gave their time, stopped to say hello, and donated so generously.”
Funds raised through the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign support programs including the Angel Tree, housing assistance, meals, and youth services throughout Richland, Lexington, Kershaw, Newberry, and Fairfield Counties.
