Festivus Returns to Georgetown via Baxter Brewhouse Inn
December 23, 2025Festivus for the Restivus returns to Georgetown once again this holiday season, thanks to Joseph and Tina Baxter, owners of the Baxter’s Brewhouse Inn. They provide the full Festivus experience, including the traditional meal consisting of meatloaf and peas served with mashed potatoes, an opportunity to share one’s feats of strength, as well as the chance to air your grievances for all that may not have gone so well for you in 2025 while holding the Festivus pole. And did we mention their delicious dark Festivus brew? Oh that’s an important component of the Festivus experience.
Baxter’s Brewhouse Inn is South Carolina’s first “brew and breakfast,” located in Georgetown’s historic district at 824 Prince Street. Joseph has been crafting beer for more than 20 years and regularly opens his beer parlour on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 – 4:00 pm so locals and tourists alike can enjoy a beverage from his tasty selection of homemade brews and ciders, catch up on whatever sporting event may be airing on the living room television and partake in some thoughtful and interesting conversations about what is happening in the 29440.
Festivus (which is a parodied holiday that came to light from the popular sitcom Seinfeld) is just one of several events the Baxters host throughout the year to bring camaraderie and fun to downtown Georgetown. From their Kringle and Shamrock Krawls to being an active cheerleader for nearby Front Street merchants, they are an interesting couple who really love what they do and where they live.
So if your work week is winding down early or you’re already beginning your holiday break, swing by the Brewhouse on Tuesday, December 23 for some Festivus fun. And tell them the Gazette sent you!  The fun begins at 1:00 pm and you can get your tickets for $12.51 through Eventbrite. We’ll see you there!
