Just Days Remaining to Nominate for the 2026 Duke Energy Citizenship & Service Award
January 7, 2026On December 8, The Laurens County Buzz first published details about the 2026 Duke Energy Citizenship & Service Award, but with the nomination deadline quickly approaching, time is running out to recognize the everyday heroes who make a difference in our community.
Community members now have just a few days remaining to submit nominations before the deadline this Friday.
Presented annually by Duke Energy in partnership with the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, the Citizenship & Service Award honors an individual whose commitment to service, leadership, and community involvement has made a meaningful and lasting impact on Laurens County.
The award recognizes individuals who consistently give back through volunteerism, civic engagement, mentorship, or service in the workplace, strengthening the community and inspiring others along the way.
The 2026 recipient will be recognized during the 47th Annual Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Dinner and Awards, scheduled for February 5, 2026.
Chamber President and CEO Dabs Davis has emphasized the importance of recognizing those whose service helps move the community forward, noting that lasting progress is often driven by individuals who serve without seeking recognition.
Who can be nominated?
Nominees should be individuals whose service and civic involvement have positively impacted others and contributed to the overall well-being of Laurens County.

Nominations must be submitted online using the official nomination form. All submissions must be received by this Friday to be considered for the 2026 award.
