Georgetown County recognizes Maya Morant as Employee of the Quarter
January 15, 2026Georgetown County has named Maya Morant its Employee of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2025, recognizing her exceptional leadership, professionalism and steady commitment to the Economic Development Department during a period of significant transition.
Morant’s nomination was submitted by Economic Development Director Kelly Robertson-Slagle, who credited her with keeping the department operating seamlessly in recent months. When the department was without a director, Morant stepped up to “hold down the fort,” managing daily

Morant also played a central role in onboarding Robertson-Slagle into her new position, providing steady guidance and clear communication as the department welcomed new leadership.
“On a personal level, Maya has been extraordinary,” Robertson-Slagle said. “Her patience, knowledge and willingness to help have made a meaningful difference in my transition—both as a new director and as a new full-time resident of Georgetown County.”
Highly regarded across South Carolina’s economic development network, Morant is known for her professionalism, integrity and relationship-building skills. Her work has strengthened partnerships with the S.C. Department of Commerce and helped raise Georgetown County’s profile throughout the region.
