The Scrub Shop opens first Midlands location in Downtown Columbia

South Carolina’s largest medical uniform retailer is officially entering the Midlands market. The City of Columbia announced the grand opening of The Scrub Shop’s newest location at 2101 Main Street, marking a significant milestone for both the growing retailer and downtown Columbia’s ongoing revitalization.
Mayor Daniel J. Rickenmann, members of the City of Columbia’s Economic Development team, and Billy Messer, Owner and CEO of The Scrub Shop, will join together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
The new Main Street location represents The Scrub Shop’s first footprint in the Midlands and places the company in the heart of downtown Columbia, near the BullStreet District and other major redevelopment projects that continue to reshape the city’s urban core.
Founded in the Upstate, more than 15 years ago in Messer’s garage, The Scrub Shop has grown into the state’s leading uniform provider, serving healthcare systems and organizations across South Carolina. The company is the exclusive uniform provider for Prisma Health, offering payroll deduction options for more than 34,000 employees statewide. Lexington Medical Center employees are also eligible for in-store payroll deduction, and the company works closely with MUSC facilities to provide uniforms and branded apparel.

The downtown Columbia store is now open at 2101 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201, further strengthening the city’s retail mix while supporting the professionals who power one of the Midlands’ most important industries.
