Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland to Lead Scam Awareness Workshop at Martha Franks
January 26, 2026Community members will have the opportunity to learn how to better protect themselves from fraud during an upcoming Scam Awareness Workshop led by Laurens Police Chief Heath Copeland on Wednesday, January 28, from 2 to 3 p.m. The event will take place in Rasor Chapel at Martha Franks Retirement Community.
As scams continue to evolve through phone calls, emails, text messages, and online tactics, the workshop aims to equip residents with the knowledge needed to recognize red flags and avoid becoming victims. Chief Copeland will discuss common scam strategies, how criminals target individuals, and practical steps people can take to safeguard their personal and financial information.
“Scammers are constantly changing their approach, and awareness is one of the best tools we have to fight back,” Copeland said. “Taking time to learn what to watch for can make all the difference in protecting yourself and your family.”
