Final Call for the Field: Mauldin Spring Sports Registration Nears the Finish Line

January 24, 2026

The sounds of spring are starting to return to Mauldin — the crack of a bat, the thud of a soccer ball, and the buzz of kids getting back on the fields. While the main registration period for Mauldin Recreation’s spring sports season closed January 31, families still have a short window to get in the game.

Late Registration Still Open (If Spots Remain)

Mauldin Recreation typically offers a brief late registration period in early February, depending on roster availability in each age division. As teams begin forming and evaluations approach, this is the final opportunity for players to sign up.

A $10 late fee applies to all registrations submitted after the January 31 deadline.

Programs still accepting players may include:

Baseball and Softball – Available for ages 3–15. These long-standing spring programs are a staple of youth athletics in Mauldin, with practices traditionally starting the week of February 23.

Girls Flag Football – A fast-growing league for girls ages 7–12 that continues to gain momentum each season.

Lacrosse – A high-energy option for boys and girls ages 8–14 looking to try something different this spring.

Evaluations Coming Soon

For older age groups — typically ages 8 and up — player evaluations are scheduled for late February. These sessions are not tryouts; every registered child is placed on a team. Evaluations simply help organizers build balanced teams for a fun and competitive season.

Families should watch for emails with specific dates and times, with most evaluations taking place at Sunset Park.

Calling All Coaches

Mauldin Recreation’s spring leagues depend on community volunteers to make each season possible. Volunteer head and assistant coaches are still needed across several sports, and organizers say even a few hours a week can make a lasting difference in a child’s confidence and overall experience.

No professional coaching background is required — just a positive attitude, a willingness to encourage young athletes, and a love of the game. Those interested in stepping up this season can apply directly through the City of Mauldin’s recreation portal.
