Heart Health for Senior Adults Focus of Upcoming Community Presentation

January 27, 2026

Laurens County seniors and their families will have the opportunity to learn more about protecting their heart health at an upcoming educational event at Martha Franks Retirement Community.

“Heart Health for Senior Adults – Learn What You Should Know and What You Should Do” will be presented by Toishi Sharma, MD, an interventional cardiologist with Advanced Cardiology Associates at Self Regional Healthcare. The event is designed to provide practical, easy-to-understand information tailored specifically to the needs and concerns of older adults.

A lite lunch for visitors will begin at 12 noon in the Cooper Dining Room, with the presentation to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Rasor Chapel. Dr. Sharma will discuss common heart conditions affecting seniors, warning signs that should not be ignored, and steps individuals can take to improve and maintain their cardiovascular health. Attendees will also have the chance to ask questions and gain insight directly from a heart specialist.

In addition to the educational session, one attendee will win a KardiaMobile 1-Lead medical-grade EKG device along with one month of KardiaCare, an $80 value. The portable device allows users to display their EKG and heart rate on a smartphone, offering a convenient way to monitor heart rhythm at home without requiring a subscription.

Community members who would like to attend are encouraged to register in advance by visiting marthafranks.com or by calling 864-681-8266.

The event offers a valuable opportunity for seniors and caregivers alike to better understand heart health and take proactive steps toward a healthier future.
