TWLUM Teen Project launches appeal for community financial support

January 30, 2026

The TWLUM Teen Project is launching a Community Funding Appeal to support its many programs designed to create a brighter future for at-risk teens from Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.

“Our mission at TWLUM Teens Project is to empower our young people by providing them with access to innovative technology, educational experiences, and cultural enrichment opportunities,” explained Tyron Wilson, founder of the local non-profit. “We believe that by expanding our teens’ horizons and broadening their perspectives, we can help them to achieve greater success and make a positive impact in their communities.”

The organization has been serving youth in the Georgetown and Williamsburg communities for over 10 years, and while funding has been challenging this year, the Teens Project has continued to provide programs for the youth, including its free math tutoring program which is still very active.

According to Wilson, they are currently seeking a minimum of five businesses, individual donors, organizations or church groups to help fund five youth programs and tours, including:

  • A college tour
  • An educational tour
  • A business/career exploration tour
  • Youth workshops and enrichment experiences

Each program or tour costs approximately $900, which covers the transportation, meals, materials, and program expenses. “Our immediate goal is to secure $900 per program so these opportunities can continue while we pursue grant funding,” Wilson added. “We urgently need community support. The work we do saves lives, especially by taking these young teens outside of their community to show them a different life and new possibilities.”
