United Way Launches Annual “Bags of Love” Drive to Support Laurens County Seniors

The United Way of Laurens County is once again inviting the community to help brighten the days of homebound senior citizens through its annual “Bags of Love” initiative.
Each year, individuals, families, churches, schools, and civic groups come together to assemble small gift bags filled with personal care items, comfort items, and thoughtful touches. These bags are delivered to nursing homes and other seniors throughout Laurens County who may be isolated or in need of a little extra encouragement.
Organizers say even the smallest gesture can make a big difference in helping seniors feel remembered and valued.
Donations and completed bags can be dropped off at the United Way of Laurens County office, located at 16 Peachtree Street in Clinton, on or before Tuesday, February 10.
Suggested items for the bags include:
Liquid soap
Greeting cards
Sugar-free candy
Calendars
Books
Blankets
Hats and gloves
Denture holders
Combs and brushes
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Eye drops
Lotion
Shampoo and conditioner
Notebooks
Pens or pencils
Band-Aids
Magnifying glasses
Washcloths
Cotton balls
Tissues
Items should be new and unopened, and liquid soap is preferred over bar soap.
“We ask that donations are received by Tuesday, February 10th. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for your continued commitment to serving our community and making a positive impact in the lives of our seniors,” said Aryele Redmond, Resource Development Manager for United Way of Laurens County.
