Charleston native and veteran parks leader Jason Kronsberg to lead Charleston Parks Conservancy

February 2, 2026

The Charleston Parks Conservancy Board of Directors has appointed Jason Kronsberg as its next Executive Director. A veteran parks leader and Charleston native, Kronsberg brings decades of experience in park stewardship, deep ties to the community, and a vision for enhancing the city’s public spaces through strong partnerships and leadership. The Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that stewards, enhances, and supports 26 of Charleston’s parks, plays a vital role in shaping the city’s public spaces through community partnerships and engagement.

A board-led search committee was formed to assess and guide the Conservancy’s leadership needs and manage a structured, well-governed hiring process. The full board retained decision-making authority and voted to appoint Kronsberg.

“Jason’s leadership represents a thoughtful and natural next chapter for the Conservancy,” said George J. Bullwinkel, III, board chair of the Charleston Parks Conservancy. “His deep knowledge of Charleston’s parks, strong partnerships across the public and nonprofit sectors, and history of collaboration will serve the organization well as we continue to pursue our mission.”

Prior to his appointment, Kronsberg served as Parks Director and Section Chief of Facilities and Capital Projects at the City of Charleston, overseeing the design, maintenance, and operation of more than 125 parks and public spaces citywide. In that role, he partnered closely with the Conservancy on numerous community-driven initiatives and capital projects. As a former member of the Conservancy’s Board of Directors, he also brings firsthand insight into the organization’s mission, partnerships, and impact.

“As someone who has spent much of my career caring for parks, facilities and public spaces in this community, I am honored to lead the Charleston Parks Conservancy,” said Kronsberg. “I look forward to continuing the strong tradition of stewardship and innovation that makes our parks such vital places for residents and visitors alike. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a talented Conservancy team and dedicated supporters, many of whom I’ve partnered with for years, in this new capacity.”

Kronsberg joins the organization during a period of sustained growth, marked by successful park renovations and community events. He will build on strong leadership and ongoing work as the Conservancy advances new park projects, expands volunteer programs, and deepens community engagement.
