Senior Resources Celebrates a Year of Impact and Leadership at Annual Awards Celebration

Senior Resources kicked off the year by celebrating the community partners, volunteers, and leaders who make its work possible, while also welcoming new leadership to its Board of Directors at its Annual Awards Celebration. The event honored individuals and organizations whose commitment and leadership have played a vital role in advancing the mission of Senior Resources and ensuring seniors can age with dignity, independence, and connection. This year’s honorees exemplify the power of collaboration and community investment in supporting older neighbors.

Senior Resources recognized several outstanding partners and individuals for their contributions to the senior community. Zion Canaan Baptist Church received the Community Partner Award, while Recruiting Solutions was recognized with the Corporate Partner Award and Colonial Life was honored with the Senior Impact Award. Individual recognitions included the Season of Service Award presented to Sandra Poliakoff, the Spirit of Giving Award awarded to Kathi Price, and the Leadership Award presented to Catherine Perry for her years of dedicated service. The Senior Advocate Award was presented to Governor Henry McMaster and Mrs. Peggy McMaster in recognition of their continued advocacy for South Carolina’s aging population.

Over the past year, Senior Resources made significant strides in meeting the growing needs of seniors in Richland County. Through Meals on Wheels and other essential programs, we delivered 198,155 meals, provided 41,369 hours of support and care, and engaged thousands of seniors through nutrition, wellness, in-home services, and referrals. These efforts were made possible by the dedication of volunteers, who contributed 22,784 hours to supporting older adults throughout the community.

The organization also recognized outgoing board members Keonye Johnson, Christina Kimball, Catherine Perry, Kathi Price, and Cam Varner for their years of service and leadership, noting their role in shaping the organization’s growth and impact across Richland County.

Senior Resources welcomed new board members David Adams (MUSC Health), Arielle Epps (Bank of America), Amanda Loveday (NP Strategy), and Jessica Reece (Colonial Life), whose expertise and passion will help lead the organization in the year ahead. The organization also announced its 2026 Executive Committee, including Jonathan Knicely, Chair; Robert Simmons, Vice Chair; Jeff Manning, Immediate Past Chair; Rebecca Gillespie, Secretary; and Jaton Smith, Treasurer.

“This past year has reminded us that even in challenging times, compassion and community remain our greatest strengths,” said Andrew Boozer, Executive Director of Senior Resources. “The impact we celebrate today is the result of strong partnerships, dedicated volunteers, and a community that believes in caring for its seniors.”
