Mauldin’s “Grand Colosseum” Rises: Bridgeway Stadium Set for May Debut
February 10, 2026Drivers along I-385 have likely noticed the skyline shifting as the Upstate’s newest landmark takes its final form. The multi-use stadium at BridgeWay Station, recently named GE Vernova Park, is officially on the clock for a May 9 grand opening.
A New Home for the Triumph
After years of playing at Furman University, the Greenville Triumph SC and Greenville Liberty are finally moving into their permanent home. The 6,300-capacity venue is designed for an “intimate but electric” atmosphere. Unlike traditional American bleacher-style stadiums, the architecture here mirrors the European-inspired aesthetic of BridgeWay Station, featuring grand Italianate towers and ornamental archways.
Construction Milestones
As of early February, crews from Edifice Construction have moved past the “dirt moving” phase and into vertical completion.
-
The Pitch: The specialized soccer turf is currently being prepped for installation.
-
East vs. West: While the east side of the stadium and the scoreboard are expected to be fully operational by the May 9 home opener against the Richmond Kickers, work on the more complex west-side structures will continue throughout the 2026 season.
-
Intimacy by Design: The project was refined from an initial 10,000-seat plan to 6,300 seats to ensure every fan feels “on top of the action.”
More Than Just Soccer
City officials and developers emphasize that the $30 million project is a year-round asset for Mauldin. Beyond professional soccer, the stadium is equipped to host:
-
Regional concerts and music festivals.
-
College and youth sports tournaments.
-
High school marching band competitions.
“This is the heartbeat of BridgeWay,” says developer Phil Hughes. “It’s a place where you can grab dinner on Main Street, walk through an archway, and be in your seat in minutes.”
What to Expect Next
The Triumph will play their first three matches of the 2026 season back at Furman’s Stone Stadium as a “bridge” while final safety inspections and interior finishes are completed at GE Vernova Park. Season ticket holders can expect seat selection notifications in the coming weeks.
