LCSO Citizens Academy Offers Inside Look at Local Law Enforcement
February 9, 2026Community members are invited to go behind the scenes and gain firsthand insight into how the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office serves and protects residents every day through the upcoming Citizens Academy.
The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the interactive program, which is designed to give participants a better understanding of local law enforcement operations. The academy focuses on education, transparency, and building stronger relationships between deputies and the community.
Those selected to participate will explore a variety of engaging topics through presentations, discussions, and interactive demonstrations. Attendees will gain real-world insight into the many responsibilities handled by the Sheriff’s Office, from patrol operations and investigations to specialized units and community safety efforts. Participants will also have opportunities to ask questions and hear directly from the men and women who serve Laurens County.
“The Citizens Academy is a great way for residents to see firsthand what our deputies do each day and to better understand the challenges and responsibilities of law enforcement,” said Courtney Snow, Public Information Officer for the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office. “We believe that building relationships and open lines of communication with our community makes Laurens County stronger and safer for everyone.”
The tentative start date for the Citizens Academy is March 3. Sessions will be held each Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will continue through April 7.
The program is open to adults ages 18 and older. Space is limited, and all interested individuals must complete an application in advance. Applications are available at the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office or can be printed from the agency’s website at http://www.laurenscountysheriff.org/citizensacademy.
Organizers say the Citizens Academy reflects the Sheriff’s Office’s belief that an informed community is a safer community, and they are proud to open their doors to residents who want a closer look at how law enforcement works to keep Laurens County safe.
