Electrician Line Technician A

Under general supervision, provides leadership and participates in the construction, maintenance, and repair of
overhead and underground electric systems. Responds to customer concern calls in a safe and timely manner.
Reports to Utility Line Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions include:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Installs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground electrical distribution systems.
Supervises subordinates in the absence of the crew leader; supports crew training and enforces safety
policy.
Maintains electrical distribution systems involving changing cross arms, repairing transformers,
setting/replacing poles, changing lighting arrestors, changing insulators, etc.
Performs system construction duties, including but not limited to installing new primary and secondary
lines, framing and setting new poles, installing underground lines, setting underground transformers
and switches, framing and setting security and street light poles, hanging new transformers, installing
metering equipment, etc.
Performs troubleshooting duties to respond to customer outages or to correct problems on the
distribution system.
Has knowledge of the city’s peak-shaving operation and the implications of parallel operation.
Inspects fire extinguishers.
Provides technical assistance with special events and projects.
Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled and is available for additional hours during inclement
weather and emergencies as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Vocational School Diploma or certificate supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of experience in electric line work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
