February 17, 2026

ORANGEBURG, SC – Edisto Habitat for Humanity will break ground on its 100th home at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 during a public ribbon-cutting ceremony and volunteer day at 909 Fulton St. in Orangeburg.

The event marks the start of the organization’s 100th Home Block multi-home construction project with the groundbreaking of the 100th Edisto Habitat home in the Orangeburg area.

Guests attending the Feb. 21 celebration will enjoy free barbecue, prizes, local vendors, volunteer activities and family-friendly experiences. The celebration will take place at 909 Fulton St. in Orangeburg and is open to the public. The organization asks that volunteers arrive at 9:30 a.m. for check-in before the 10 a.m. ceremony promptly begins.

“Reaching this milestone fills us with great pride and even deeper gratitude, but none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our community,” said Jessica Burgoyne, executive director. “From our volunteers, sponsors, donors, local organizations, faith-based community groups, educational institutions, our local, state, and federal politicians, and the incredible outpouring of love from our community, the power of partnership is evident.”

The event will commence with a ribbon-cutting by the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, followed by a short ceremony where guests will meet Edisto Habitat’s next family partner and hear from inspirational community leaders.

“Edisto Habitat for Humanity is not just about building homes. It’s about offering the opportunity to build hope, strengthen our community, and empower families to create a brighter, more stable future,” said Burgoyne.

In addition to the festivities, attendees will have opportunities to learn more about Edisto Habitat for Humanity’s programs, witness the impact of its services, volunteer, and connect with local vendors and community partners supporting the organization’s local housing efforts. Volunteer participation is optional.
