Golden Strip Career Center in Mauldin Hosts Open House and Hot Dog Supper
February 16, 2026The Golden Strip Career Center will host a community open house this Thursday, February 19, 2026. The event is designed as a drop-in experience for parents and students to tour the facility, meet instructors, and learn about the wide range of vocational programs available for the 2026-2027 school year.
To make the evening even more welcoming, the school is providing a free hot dog supper for all attendees.
Hands-On Learning and Career Readiness
As a part of the Greenville County Schools Graduation Plus initiative, GSCC offers high schoolers the chance to earn national certifications and college credits while still in high school. During the open house, visitors can explore the shops and labs where students train for high-demand fields.

-
Advanced manufacturing and mechatronics
-
Automotive technology and collision repair

Exploring Options for 9th Graders
A highlight of the event for younger students is the career exploratory program. This one-semester class allows 9th graders to shadow four different programs for two weeks each, helping them decide on a career path before committing to a multi-year certification track.
Important Deadlines for Applicants
The open house comes at a critical time for students planning their schedules. The window for first-round applications for the upcoming school year closes on Friday, February 27. Acceptance notices are expected to be sent out by early April.
