  • Project Partners, including Skate Community, Continue to Play Role in Development

Designs for the City’s new Wheelsports park, including a 3D fly-through rendering, were shared by the Project Management Office and consultants during the February 12 Greenville City Council retreat.

The park design incorporates three use areas: a bicycle playground, pumptrack and skatepark, surrounded by shade structures, viewing areas, a central pavilion with restrooms, parking, landscaping and art installations.

Named, “Wheels Up,” the new park will be located on a 10-acre site adjacent to the Greenville Downtown Airport and Swamp Rabbit Trail. The site will include stormwater improvements and a direct paved connection to the Swamp Rabbit Trail Green Line. Construction will begin in January of 2027.

Community involvement has been woven throughout the project. The City held three community meetings received more than 20,000 responses and 1,500 comments to three online surveys.

The park will be funded via a public-private partnership that will include financial and in-kind contributions as well as the sale of naming rights.
