National fast-casual brand bringing fresh smoothies and food to growing Greenville retail destination

Aston announced that Tropical Smoothie Cafe will open a new location at Verdae Village, bringing its signature smoothies, wraps, flatbreads, and bowls to the growing Greenville retail destination. The nationally recognized fast-casual brand will introduce a fresh, health-focused dining option to the center’s evolving tenant mix, further reinforcing Aston’s commitment to delivering high-quality retail environments that serve surrounding neighborhoods and the broader Greenville community.

The 2,723-square-foot café, located at 101 Verdae Blvd, is owned and operated by Greenville-area franchisees Bill Ruby and Greg Powell, longtime local operators who opened their first Tropical Smoothie Cafe in 2017 and has steadily expanded across the Upstate. The Verdae Village location will mark their ninth store in the Greenville-Spartanburg market.

Ruby and Powell shared their enthusiasm for the new location and its opportunity to serve the expanding Verdae community.

“We’re excited to bring Tropical Smoothie Cafe to Verdae Village and continue expanding our presence in the Upstate,” said Ruby. “This area is experiencing meaningful growth, and we see a real demand for convenient, better-for-you dining options.”

Aston leaders said Tropical Smoothie Cafe further strengthens the center’s growing mix of dining and lifestyle offerings.

Verdae Village is anchored by Food Lion and Lowe’s Outlet and features a strong mix of national and local retailers, including Office Depot, Planet Fitness, LensCrafters, Massage Envy, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Greenfield’s Bagels & Deli, along with a variety of fitness, dining and service-oriented tenants. Outparcel restaurants at the center include Olive Garden, Burger King and Arby’s, further reinforcing Verdae Village’s role as a convenient, everyday shopping and dining destination within the broader Verdae corridor.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe at Verdae Village is slated to open in late spring 2026.
