Bridge2Bridge Run: Racing for community and cause in Georgetown
February 25, 2026Now entering its 13th year, the Bridge2Bridge Run has cemented itself as one of Georgetown’s signature events. More than just a race, it’s a morning where over a thousand residents and visitors flood the historic downtown to cross scenic bridges and raise vital funds for Friendship Place.
A Race with a Mission
Since its inception, the race has been a lifeline for Friendship Place, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping “neighbors navigate from crisis to self-sufficiency.” In 2023, the organization transitioned from a beneficiary to the leader of the event, with Executive Director Marie Livingston taking the reins as Race Director.
“We rely on over 200 volunteers who assist with everything from race check-in to manning aid stations and managing the children’s activity area,” says Livingston. “They are the heartbeat of this event’s ongoing success.”
That success is measurable. Participation skyrocketed from 388 runners to over 1,000 last year, raising $48,000 to support local charitable programs.
More Than Just a Finish Line
Livingston describes the event as a full-sensory experience. The 2026 race day will feature:
-
Live Entertainment: Music by The Band Holcomb.
-
Post-Race Celebration: A beer garden, mimosa bar, and an awards ceremony at Maritime Park.
-
Family Fun: Dedicated kids’ activities hosted by Miss Ruby’s Kids.
-
VIP Treatment: An exclusive reception at the George Hotel, highlighting the event’s economic impact on local shops and restaurants.
This year’s event is again supported by presenting sponsor Mark Nash – State Farm, continuing a three-year partnership built on a shared passion for the Georgetown community.
