GSSM 5K raises $3,615 for Night to Shine, draws 150 participants
March 3, 2026The South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) hosted its annual 5K for Mental Health Awareness on Saturday, Feb. 28, bringing together students, employees, and community members in support of mental wellness.
The event was organized by Fun Without Drugs (FWD), a student-led organization dedicated to promoting balanced lifestyles and emotional well-being. Through initiatives that encourage empathy, connection, and school pride, FWD works to foster a culture of support both on campus and throughout the community.
Proceeds from the race benefited Night to Shine, a prom experience for individuals with special needs, ages 14 and older, in Hartsville.
