Brenda Stewart reappointed by South Carolina Supreme Court to Commission on Lawyer Conduct
March 11, 2026Stewart begins a new two-year term continuing her long-standing service as a non-lawyer member representing the public in South Carolina’s attorney disciplinary system.
Laurens County resident and community leader Brenda Stewart has been reappointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to serve another two-year term on the Commission on Lawyer Conduct. Her new term runs from January 2026 through December 2027.
Stewart serves as a non-lawyer member of the commission, representing the public in South Carolina’s attorney disciplinary system. Stewart has served consecutively on the Commission since her initial appointment in 2010, representing nearly two decades of service.
The Commission on Lawyer Conduct operates under the authority of the South Carolina Supreme Court and plays an important role in protecting the public and maintaining the integrity of the legal profession. The commission reviews and investigates allegations of attorney misconduct and makes recommendations to the Court regarding disciplinary matters.

As a non-lawyer member, Stewart brings an important public perspective to the commission’s work, helping ensure that the disciplinary process remains fair, transparent, and accountable to the citizens of South Carolina.
In addition to her service on the commission, Stewart is the founder of Stewart Marketing & Consulting, where she works with law firms and businesses on strategic growth, marketing, and operational development.
She is also the publisher of Laurens County Buzz, a digital community news platform highlighting positive stories, local businesses, and civic engagement across Laurens County. Building on the success of that model, Stewart is also a partner in the recently launched Golden Strip News, a regional publication serving Fountain Inn, Simpsonville, and Mauldin that focuses on positive community news, local business stories, and civic engagement across the rapidly growing Golden Strip area. Stewart is active in nonprofit leadership, supporting initiatives that serve first responders, military veterans and helping launch the Upstate Pregnancy Center in Laurens County.
The Commission on Lawyer Conduct is composed of lawyers and non-lawyer members appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to oversee the investigation and prosecution of complaints against attorneys practicing in the state.
