GSP Collecting Donations to Support Federal Workers During Partial Government Shutdown
March 16, 2026Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is asking travelers and community members to help support federal workers affected by the current partial government shutdown by donating essential items.
Airport officials recently announced a donation drive to collect non-perishable food, household supplies, and personal care items for federal employees who continue to work during the shutdown but may be experiencing financial strain due to delayed paychecks.
Travelers passing through the airport, as well as those visiting the facility, are encouraged to bring donations and drop them off at one of two convenient locations inside the airport.
Donation drop-off locations include:
Information Center (near Baggage Claim) — open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Valet Parking Kiosk — open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Items that are especially helpful include canned foods, paper goods, and personal care products, along with other non-perishable essentials that can help families during the shutdown.
Airport officials noted that even small contributions can make a meaningful difference for the federal employees who help keep airport operations running every day.
Those traveling through GSP in the coming days are encouraged to consider bringing a donation, and community members are also welcome to share the information with others who may be passing through the airport.
Officials expressed appreciation for the community’s continued support of the workers who serve behind the scenes to keep the airport operating safely and efficiently.
