Middleton has been named vice president of academic affairs at Denmark Technical College
March 17, 2026Marci Middleton, Ph.D., has been named vice president of academic affairs at Denmark Technical College. Middleton holds a Doctor of Philosophy in educational policy studies and a Master of Science in human resource management from Georgia State University, a Master of Business Administration from Augusta State University and separate bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology, respectively from Emory University. She also earned professional certification as a distance education professional from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“Dr. Middleton brings a thoughtful and strategic approach to academic leadership that will strengthen our programs and expand opportunities for student success,” said Eric Brown, Ph.D., president and CEO of Denmark Technical College. “Her experience and commitment to academic excellence will help ensure our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the workforce and continued achievement.”
Middleton previously served as acting vice president of academic affairs and director of distance education at Paine College, where she led initiatives to enhance student success, expand academic access and strengthen faculty development. She also served as associate vice president of academic affairs at Paine, overseeing academic programs and support services and as a student success specialist at Georgia Gwinnett College, instructional faculty at Shorter University and as assistant vice chancellor of academic programs at the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

In her new role, Middleton will provide strategic leadership for Denmark Technical College’s academic programs, advance faculty development and enhance student learning outcomes. She will also focus on initiatives that support retention, bolster completion and initiate innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
Her appointment follows a pattern of strategic leadership hires at Denmark Technical College aimed at building capacity and advancing student achievement.
“Dr. Middleton’s leadership will help Denmark Technical College continue building strong academic pathways and expanding opportunities for our students,” Brown said. “Her vision for teaching and learning will play an important role in advancing our mission and supporting student success.”
