Jimmy Poole Announces Campaign for Laurens County Council District 4
March 17, 2026Jimmy Poole is a combat veteran, community leader, and dedicated public servant running for Laurens County Council District 4. With a lifelong commitment to service, both in uniform and at home in Laurens County. Poole brings proven leadership, discipline, and a results-driven mindset to local government.
A U.S. Army Military Police combat veteran, Poole served his country in a number of elite and highly responsible roles during his military career. Among his assignments, he served with the 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard,” the Army’s official ceremonial unit responsible for presidential escorts and national ceremonies in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the Military District of Washington Special Reaction Team, providing high-level security and rapid response capabilities.
Throughout his career, Poole held several leadership and specialized operational positions. He served as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of the SWAT Sniper Team for the 17th Military Police Detachment, a biometrics specialist and trainer for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, and later as the U.S. liaison to NATO Special Operations Task Force 47, coordinating with allied forces on critical international missions. His service reflects a career built on integrity, accountability, and protecting others.
Following his military service, Poole continued serving his community locally. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the Laurens City Planning Commission, helping guide responsible growth, infrastructure planning, and development decisions that impact the future of the community.
Poole remains deeply involved in veteran and civic organizations. He is a member of the Old Guard Association, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Military Police Regimental Association. He also serves as a National Senior Mentor and Group Leader for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), providing peer support and mentorship to families who have lost loved ones in military service.
In addition to his veterans’ advocacy, Poole is active in local conservation and community efforts as a former Chairman of the Laurens County Chapter of the South Carolina Waterfowl Association, supporting wildlife conservation, youth outdoor education, and community engagement.
A proud product of the community he seeks to represent, Poole is a graduate of Laurens Academy. His professional training includes U.S. Army Airborne School, the U.S. Military Police Academy, the FBI Firearms Instructor School, and the FBI Foreign Weapons Instructor/Advisor School.
Jimmy Poole believes Laurens County deserves strong leadership rooted in service, accountability, and common-sense decision making.
