Greenville Tech Early College Accelerate U program puts high school students on career-ready fast track
March 19, 2026Greenville Technical College (GTC) is expanding opportunities for local high school students to earn college credit and industry credentials while still in high school—often at little to no cost. Accelerate U is a new, career-focused Early College initiative open to Greenville County public, charter, and homeschool students.
The program combines hands-on technical training, wraparound student support, and strong employer partnerships to prepare students for high-demand careers or continued college education. By earning college credentials early, students can significantly reduce the time and cost to launch a career.
Students can choose from four career pathways: Aircraft Maintenance Technology, HVAC, Industrial Electricity and Welding—fields that play a critical role in Greenville County’s workforce.
Students and families interested in Accelerate U are encouraged to attend an information session on April 7 at Greenville Technical College. The session will provide an overview of available career pathways, eligibility requirements, the enrollment process, and how the program fits into a student’s high school and postsecondary plans.
“Accelerate U gives students a head start on their future,” said Dr. Tameka Brown, executive director of GTC’s Early College. “They gain confidence, real-world experience, and college credentials all while they’re in high school and surrounded by support from instructors and community partners committed to their success.”
In addition, GTC’s Early College is offering the STEM Summer Bridge program to rising 10th-12th-grade students. This program runs for eight weeks, during which participants rotate through four career pathways, spending two weeks in each while earning college credit over the summer. Students who complete STEM Summer Bridge can transition directly into Accelerate U in their chosen program when the new school year begins.
Early College and Dual Enrollment programs are widely recognized for helping students successfully transition from high school to college or the workforce. Through Accelerate U, students can graduate high school with a college certificate and the skills needed for immediate employment, apprenticeships, or continued study in an associate degree program at Greenville Tech.
The program is designed to remove common barriers that prevent students from accessing college and career training. Depending on eligibility, tuition, books, uniforms, tools and other program materials may be covered. Transportation to Greenville Technical College is available for students from Berea, Carolina and Southside High Schools.
Students may also receive additional support through OnTrack Greenville, helping them stay on track academically and personally. Through the Greenville Chamber, participants gain access to employment opportunities and connections with local industry partners. Together, these partnerships create a direct pipeline from education to employment and strengthen the local workforce.
For rising sophomores, juniors and seniors looking to get ahead, explore career options and graduate with both a high school diploma and a college credential, Accelerate U offers a direct path to success.
