Call for Artists: Georgetown seeks local artwork for utility box murals
March 22, 2026The Georgetown Arts & Cultural Commission is inviting local artists to help transform ordinary utility boxes into vibrant works of public art across the city of Georgetown. The commission is seeking high‑quality digital images of original artwork to be reproduced as vinyl wraps for electrical transformers throughout the community.
Selected designs will be professionally printed and installed, turning functional infrastructure into visually engaging street art that reflects the character of Georgetown. The project is open to both professional and amateur artists who reside in the greater Georgetown area.
Artists may submit existing or newly created work in a wide range of media, including photography, painting, digital art, textiles and mixed media, provided the artwork can be captured in a high‑resolution digital format. While not required, designs inspired by Georgetown’s history, coastal environment, local wildlife or cultural life are encouraged.
Submissions will be evaluated based on artistic quality, relevance to the community and suitability for public display. Selected artists will receive public recognition on the installed wrap, ongoing visibility to residents and visitors, and digital promotion through City of Georgetown social media channels and website.
For more details on specifications and submission, visit the GACC’s website. Artists may submit up to three preview‑resolution images by completing the online application form. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2026.
