Steel, Turf, and Big Ambitions: GE Vernova Park Takes Shape in Mauldin

Something is rising at Bridgeway Station, and it’s easy to spot from the road — the unmistakable skeleton of a stadium coming to life in Mauldin, right on schedule.
GE Vernova Park, the soon-to-be home of both the Greenville Triumph SC and Liberty soccer clubs, is on track to open its gates on June 3 — and a recent hard hat walkthrough of the site makes clear this is no ordinary sports venue.
The park is being designed with roughly 4,000 to 4,500 fixed seats and a game-day soccer capacity of around 6,400. But ask the development team what they’re really building, and soccer is just the starting point. For concerts and larger-scale events, the venue is engineered to accommodate up to 15,000 people, anchored by a performance stage at the south end of the facility.
Rivers Hughes of Hughes Investments, one of the project’s key partners, described the stadium as the beating heart of the broader Bridgeway Station mixed-use development. A grand entrance arch and scoreboard will connect the stadium directly to the district’s shops and restaurants — a walkable two-minute stroll that developers hope will keep the energy flowing well before and after the final whistle.
The fan experience has been a deliberate priority throughout construction. Early plans called for bench seating, but the team pivoted to fixed seating to deliver what Hughes called a premium atmosphere. The field itself will feature artificial turf. The west side of the stadium — housing suites, locker rooms, and expanded concessions — is expected to complete construction later in the summer, while the east side will be ready to welcome fans on opening day.
Parking and traffic management remain active conversations between the development partners and the City of Mauldin, with logistics expected to be finalized in the weeks ahead of the June launch.
The project is a four-way collaboration among Hughes Investments, the Greenville Triumph, the City of Mauldin, and the State of South Carolina — a partnership that reflects just how much momentum this corner of the Upstate has built.
For a region that has watched Bridgeway Station grow from a concept into a genuine community destination, GE Vernova Park represents the final signature piece — the kind of gathering place that gives people a reason to come out, stay a while, and keep coming back.
