MHS Juniors and Seniors Prep for Success: WIN Ready to Work Assessment this Week

March 25, 2026

Mauldin High School is preparing for a significant academic milestone this week as students gear up for the WIN Ready to Work assessment. The statewide career readiness testing will take place over two days, Thursday, March 26, and Friday, March 27, focusing on evaluating the real-world skills essential for the modern workforce.

The assessment is a requirement for all students in their third year of high school (juniors), as well as seniors who have not yet met the criteria for their Career Readiness Credential.

Modified Schedule for Testing Days

To ensure a focused environment for test-takers, Mauldin High will operate on a modified block schedule for both days:

  • Thursday, March 26: 1st Block will be extended from 8:45 a.m. to 11:58 a.m. for testing. 3rd and 4th blocks will follow their regular schedule.
  • Friday, March 27: 2nd Block will be extended from 8:45 a.m. to 11:58 a.m. for testing. 3rd and 4th blocks will follow their regular schedule.

Students are reminded to bring their district-issued devices fully charged, as the assessment is conducted entirely online.

What is the WIN Assessment?

The WIN (Worldwide Interactive Network) Ready to Work assessment is designed to measure foundational skills that South Carolina employers identify as critical for job success. Unlike traditional standardized tests, WIN focuses on practical applications of knowledge in workplace scenarios.

The assessment consists of four key components:

  1. Applied Mathematics: Measuring the ability to apply mathematical reasoning to solve workplace problems.
  2. Reading for Information: Testing the ability to read and interpret workplace documents like memos, policies, and manuals.
  3. Locating Information (Data): Evaluating the skill of finding and using information from graphics such as charts, diagrams, and floor plans.
  4. Essential Soft Skills: Assessing professional behaviors, including teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

Earning the Credential

By successfully completing the assessment, students can earn the South Carolina Work Ready Credential. This portable certificate is recognized by businesses across the state and serves as a “seal of approval” for a student’s readiness to enter the workforce or pursue post-secondary education.

The credentials are awarded at four levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—based on the student’s scores across the different modules.
