State Museum celebrates spring with 50% off kids admission from April 4–11

The South Carolina State Museum is celebrating Spring Break from April 4 – 11 with 50% off general admission for children aged 3 -12. Plus, guests can explore four floors of exhibitions and enjoy immersive experiences in the 4D theater and planetarium.

Now showing at the museum, Bugs 4D takes viewers on an up-close-and-personal adventure in the Borneo rainforests, using cutting-edge technology that magnifies insects up to 250,000 times their normal size. In addition, guests of all ages are invited to enjoy unprecedented views of distant galaxies and nebulae in the planetarium experience James Webb Space Telescope: The Story Unfolds. Developed by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, A.L., this interactive show not only features groundbreaking images in brilliant 4K resolution but also highlights the incredible science behind the James Webb mission. The Boeing Observatory is also open daily (weather permitting), and solar observing is included with the purchase of a general admission ticket.

While visiting the museum this spring, guests are encouraged to explore four floors of engaging exhibitions which highlight South Carolina’s cultural history, scientific achievements, art and natural wonders. Additionally, guests may explore exhibitions such as Bird Photographer of the Year, South Carolina Wings of Wonder, When I See Myself, I See…, Native Communities of South Carolina and From the Vault: South Carolina Art from the Museum’s Collection. Guests are also encouraged to see the museum’s latest acquisition, “Big Percy,” a massive sweetgrass basket made by renowned Gullah Geechee artist Corey Alston, as well as shop in the Museum Store.

General admission to the museum is $13 for adults, $11 for seniors, and children aged 3-12 are regularly $10 ($5 with 50% off discount). Infants 2 and under are free. Planetarium and 4D theater show tickets are an additional charge. The museum will be closed on Easter Sun., April 5, and Mon., April 6.
