City of Laurens Announces “Clean Up Crack Down” Initiative to Encourage Community Pride
March 29, 2026The City of Laurens is giving residents a fresh opportunity to spruce up their properties this spring through its “Clean Up Crack Down” initiative.
Running from April 1 through June, the initiative provides a grace period for residents to address property maintenance issues without facing penalties. City officials say the effort is designed to recognize that life happens—whether it’s storm damage, busy schedules, or other challenges—and to offer a fair window of time for cleanup.
During this period, residents are encouraged to take care of tasks such as clearing debris, mowing overgrown lawns, and completing general property maintenance. The goal is simple: help neighborhoods look their best while giving everyone the chance to get caught up.
Once the grace period ends, the City will return to standard code enforcement practices. However, officials emphasize that the focus right now is on encouragement, not enforcement.
As part of the broader effort, the City is also partnering with Keep Laurens County Beautiful to host a community cleanup event on April 23 in recognition of Earth Day. Residents are invited to participate and contribute to keeping Laurens clean and welcoming.
City leaders hope the initiative will inspire both individual and community-wide efforts, reinforcing pride in Laurens and creating a positive impact that extends well beyond the cleanup period.
