Beach Boys and Julio and the Saltines shows set for Friday and Saturday

The Beach Boys will headline the concert lineup at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic as ticketholders for the Friday and Saturday golf rounds will be treated to a free concert starting at 6 p.m. each night on the Ocean Lawn stage. The PGA TOUR event will be held on May 7-10 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

The Beach Boys, a 1960s rock band whose innovative sounds and harmonies made them one of the most influential groups of their time, will take the stage on Friday night. Their 1966 Pet Sounds album and the hit single “Good Vibrations” are widely considered to be their best, but the group enjoyed hits over three decades. Other hits included ‘Surfin’ USA,’ ‘California Girls,’ ‘Fun, Fun, Fun,’ ‘God Only Knows,’ and ‘Kokomo.’ The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

“The Beach Boys continue to enjoy making music and bringing the California pop sound to audiences across the country,” said band founder and chief lyricist Mike Love. “We look forward to sharing an evening of our music at the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic. The Beach Boys’ music never gets old. And singing songs like ‘Good Vibrations’ and ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’ keeps us all young at heart.”

Emerging Italian singer Benadetta Caretta will also be part of the Friday concert lineup. The 29-year-old has four albums to date and is noted for her soulful vocals and versatility, with a range that stretches from pop to rhythm and blues to gospel.

Julio and the Saltines, a local cover band whose high energy makes them a favorite at festivals and night spots across the Carolinas, will perform after play is concluded on Saturday. The five-piece band, featuring lead singer Julio Navarro, covers a wide range of music, from rock to pop to country.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting myrtlebeachclassic.com. The event is open to the public from May 6-10 (Wednesday through Sunday), with ticket options starting at $65 for Thursday and Sunday rounds, $71 for Friday and Saturday rounds, and $44 for Wednesday’s Celebrity Pro-Am. Both daily and weekly general admission tickets are available. Children 15-and-under will again be admitted free with an adult ticketholder, while military and first responders will have access to two free tickets for Wednesday’s Celebrity Pro-Am, and discounted tickets for all four official tournament rounds.

The ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic is a dual-field PGA TOUR event jointly sponsored by ONEflight International and Visit Myrtle Beach and managed by SPORTFIVE, a global event management company.

A Robert Trent Jones-designed course, the Dunes Club was incorporated in 1948. It was host to the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship on PGA TOUR Champions from 1994 to 1999, with notables Raymond Floyd, Jim Colbert, Jay Sigel, Gil Morgan, Hale Irwin and Gary McCord claiming titles. Twenty-one years earlier, the Dunes Club was the site of PGA TOUR Q-School Finals in 1973, with Ben Crenshaw taking medalist honors.
