KD Trial Lawyers expands leadership and criminal defense team with Jennifer E. Wells and Evan M. Haney

KD Trial Lawyers announced the elevation of Jennifer E. Wells to Partner and the addition of Evan M. Haney to the firm’s criminal defense team. These appointments mark a significant expansion of the firm’s leadership and its capacity to handle complex litigation across the Carolinas.
Since joining KD Trial Lawyers in 2022, Wells has excelled as an advocate in federal and state criminal defense, white collar crime, personal injury, collegiate student investigations, and criminal investigations.
At KD, Wells is highly regarded as an advocate for the disadvantaged and the underrepresented. This includes work with homeless courts, domestic violence victims, and sexual assault victims. She is also an educator across South Carolina on gun rights, trial tactics, and domestic violence.
Before making her mark at KD Trial Lawyers in 2022, Wells built a diverse career in the Carolinas, serving as an assistant solicitor in the Seventh Circuit Solicitor’s Office, where she took more than 500 criminal cases, ranging from murder and child abuse homicide to weapons offenses. She also served as a Federal Prosecutor, where she took on complex, high-level drug trafficking and money laundering cases.
Joining the firm’s criminal defense practice is Evan M. Haney, who brings a strong background in legislative policy and trial preparation.
He served as a law clerk in the South Carolina Statehouse on the House Labor and Commerce Committee. On the Senate side, Haney was a law clerk for the Family and Veterans’ Services Committee. Haney served as a law school intern in the Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office in Union, South Carolina.
Haney graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2020, where he was a dean’s list student. From Presbyterian College, he holds Bachelor’s degrees in political science and in music, cum laude. Haney served as Student Body Vice President at Presbyterian College.
