Local bands to face off in “Battle of the Bands” fundraiser for Helping Hands of Georgetown

March 31, 2026

The rhythm of the Lowcountry is about to get a competitive edge. On Thursday, April 16, the Quad in Pawleys Island will host the inaugural East Coast Honda Volkswagen Battle of the Bands, a community concert event benefiting Helping Hands of Georgetown.

From 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the public is invited to enjoy a diverse lineup of musical talent. While Southyrn Cross—known for their Southern and Classic Rock—serves as the event’s signature band, four local acts will go head-to-head to win the community’s favor:

Greta Lee and the Lowcountry Strangers (Country)
Exit Band (90s Alternative and Rock)
Chris Tharp (Rock, Pop, and Indie)
Platinum Reign (80s and 90s Rock/Dance)

The event is free to attend, but the “battle” is fueled by the audience. Attendees can cast votes for their favorite performers with a $5 donation per vote, with all proceeds directly supporting the various missions of Helping Hands.

“We are excited to bring this inaugural fundraiser to the community,” said Lynne Ford, associate director for Helping Hands of Georgetown. “We hope to bring about a sense of community fun and goodwill while giving people the opportunity to support Helping Hands as we continue to serve our neighbors in need—whether it’s through our Gloria’s Place Food Pantry, utility assistance, our free Dr. E. Benton DuBose Dental Clinic, or our Youth Empowerment Program (YEP).”

Radio personality Jeff Benton of Gator 107.9 will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. In addition to the music, a variety of food trucks will be on-site offering refreshments and beverages.

The fundraiser is made possible through the support of several local partners, led by Diamond Presenting Sponsor East Coast Honda Volkswagen. Platinum Sponsors include Anderson Brothers Bank, First Citizens Bank (Pawleys Island), The Bellamy Law Firm, Smith Sapp CPAs, Stox and Co., and Waccamaw Landscaping, along with Gold Sponsor Bank of Greeleyville.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating. For more information on the event or to learn how to support the organization’s programs, visit Helping Hands of Georgetown.
