Under the Stars: Family Movie Nights Return to The Mill’s Big Screen

April 1, 2026

The centerpiece of Fountain Inn’s social scene is dimming the house lights and cranking up the projector. The Mill at Fountain Inn has officially kicked off its spring movie series, inviting families from across the Golden Strip to gather on the lawn for free screenings on the Upstate’s largest outdoor screen.

The series began this evening with a showing of the animated hit Zootopia 2, setting the stage for what organizers promise will be a season full of cinematic community gatherings at the historic Ellison Street site.

A Cinematic Destination

Since its opening, The Mill has redefined the outdoor experience in Fountain Inn. Its expansive green space, fenced-in for safety and dotted with Adirondack chairs and picnic tables, provides a natural amphitheater for film lovers. The massive digital screen—designed to be visible even before the sun fully sets—allows for earlier start times that are ideal for families with young children.

Dinner and a Show

One of the primary draws of movie night at The Mill is the convenience of the adjacent food hall and brewery. Instead of traditional theater popcorn, moviegoers can choose from a variety of local culinary concepts to enjoy during the film:

  • Fountain Inn Brewing Co.: Serving up 16 rotating taps and fresh, scratch-made pizzas.

  • Bistro 44: Offering gourmet burgers and elevated comfort food.

  • Birria Loco: Providing a hit of flavor with their signature tacos.

  • Bingbi Sushi: For a fresh, lighter option during the flick.

  • Two Scoops & Knowledge Perk: Perfect for post-movie ice cream or a caffeine boost for the adults.

Planning Your Visit

While the events are free to the public, seasoned “Mill-goers” suggest arriving early to secure a prime spot on the grass.

  • Bring Your Own Seating: While some Adirondack chairs are available, most families prefer to bring blankets or low-profile lawn chairs.

  • Timing: Music and lawn games typically begin an hour before showtime, with movies starting promptly at 6:00 p.m.

  • Weather: Events are weather-permitting. In the case of rain, screenings may be moved under the covered Pavilion or rescheduled.

Looking Ahead

The movie series is just one part of a packed April calendar for the venue. The Mill will also serve as a key hub for upcoming city-wide celebrations, including the 20th Annual Mac Arnold Blues Festival on April 11 and the Italian American Heritage Festival on April 18.

As the spring weather settles into the Upstate, these weekly movie nights are expected to remain a Wednesday night staple for residents of Fountain Inn, Simpsonville, and Mauldin looking for an affordable and high-quality mid-week escape.
