Spring Into Action: Mauldin Sports Center Launches Seasonal Fitness Challenge

April 3, 2026

As the Upstate layers of winter finally shed, the Mauldin Sports Center is challenging residents to trade their couches for the court. The city’s premier wellness hub at 10 City Center Drive has officially kicked off its 2026 Spring Fitness Challenge, a community-wide initiative designed to jumpstart healthy habits through the peak of the spring season.

The challenge arrives as the center expands its group fitness roster, offering a mix of high-intensity training and mindful movement to accommodate the influx of “spring fever” fitness seekers.

A Challenge for Every Level

The Spring Fitness Challenge isn’t just for seasoned athletes; it is designed to be accessible to everyone from “Walker Plus” members to daily heavy-lifters. Participants earn points throughout the month of April by engaging in a variety of activities available at the center:

  • Group Fitness Milestones: Attendance in popular classes like Zumba, Cycle, and Pound® earns double points on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

  • The Vertical Ascent: For those looking to elevate their routine, successful climbs on the center’s 32-foot Rock Climbing Tower contribute toward the total challenge score.

  • The Daily Grind: Consistent use of the center’s 30+ pieces of cardiovascular equipment or free weight area (ranging from 5 lbs to 100 lbs) tracks toward weekly progress goals.

Community and Accountability

Under the leadership of Sports Center Manager Amanda Duffie, the challenge emphasizes “quality relationships” as much as physical results. By participating in the challenge, members are paired with “accountability partners” or small teams, fostering the supportive, small-town atmosphere for which Mauldin is known.

“Our mission is to strengthen the community,” says a representative for the Mauldin Recreation Department. “The Spring Challenge provides that extra bit of motivation to help people reach their wellness goals while connecting with their neighbors.”

Family Fitness Focus

Recognizing that spring is a busy time for families, the Mauldin Sports Center is highlighting its Fit Kids program as part of the challenge. This allows parents to pursue their own fitness goals while children aged 3 to 14 participate in supervised, active play.

Additionally, for families with teenagers, the center’s Family Fitness Orientation (required for ages 11–14) is being offered by appointment throughout April, allowing parents and children to complete the challenge as a unit.

Membership and Participation

The challenge is open to all current members, and the center is offering “Spring Special” rates for new sign-ups during the first week of April.

  • Individual Rates: Starting at $38.00 monthly.

  • Senior Individual (60+): Discounted to $31.00 monthly.

  • Student Rates: Available for full-time students ages 15–25 with proof of enrollment.

For those not ready to commit to a full year, the center’s 3-month “No Contract” rate remains a popular choice for those looking to stay active specifically through the spring and summer months.

How to Join

Residents can sign up for the Spring Fitness Challenge at the front desk or via the Mauldin Recreation website. Participants who complete the challenge requirements by the end of May will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including personal training sessions and Mauldin Sports Center gear.

With the Mauldin Spring Community Cleanup Day also approaching on May 2, city officials see the fitness challenge as the perfect way to ensure residents are “Mauldin Strong” and ready for the outdoor volunteer season ahead.
