Redemption After Incarceration Symposium and Job Fair Set for April 14

April 7, 2026

South Carolina continues to lead the nation with the lowest recidivism rate, according to the South Carolina Department of Corrections—an achievement that reflects more than policy. It reflects people, partnerships, and a shared commitment to second chances.

That commitment will be on display at the upcoming Redemption After Incarceration Symposium and Job Fair, hosted in partnership with Path2Redemption. The event is scheduled for April 14, 2026, at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History.

The day will begin with a symposium from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Job and Resource Fair from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., bringing together career seekers, employers, community leaders, and advocates focused on strengthening South Carolina’s reentry workforce.

Organizers emphasize that successful reentry does not happen by chance. It is built through intentional support systems, including:

  • Community encouragement and accountability
  • Employment opportunities with background-friendly employers
  • Support from local organizations such as Goodwill Industries
  • A willingness to offer second chances

The event aims to create meaningful connections between returning citizens and employers while also equipping attendees with resources and insight to support long-term success. It also serves as a platform for community leaders and organizations to collaborate on solutions that reduce barriers to employment and stability after incarceration.

With South Carolina already setting the pace nationally, events like this reinforce the state’s commitment to building pathways forward—not just for individuals, but for stronger communities overall.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to mark their calendars and be part of a growing movement focused on opportunity, accountability, and hope.
