Laurens County Museum to Host Revolutionary War Battle Series Program on the Battle of Kings Mountain

April 12, 2026

History enthusiasts and local residents are invited to the next installment of the Laurens County Museum’s Revolutionary War Battle Series as historian Durant Ashmore presents “The Battle of Kings Mountain” on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. in The Magnolia Room at the Laurens County Museum, located at 116 South Public Square in Laurens.

Ashmore’s presentation will explore one of the most pivotal battles of the American Revolution in the South. Fought on October 7, 1780, the Battle of Kings Mountain marked a turning point in the Revolutionary War and is widely regarded as a major Patriot victory that shifted momentum in the Southern Campaign.

The Laurens County Museum’s Revolutionary War Battle Series offers attendees an opportunity to learn more about the people, places, and events that shaped America’s fight for independence—particularly those with significance to South Carolina and the surrounding region.

Admission is free for museum members, while non-members are encouraged to make a $5 suggested donation.
