Hannah Bodie named next Principal of Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced that Hannah Bodie has been selected as the next principal of Mamie P. Whitesides Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. Ms. Bodie will succeed current principal Michelle Conner, who previously announced she will be relocating out of state.

Ms. Bodie brings more than two decades of experience in education, including a strong record of instructional leadership, teacher development, and student-centered decision-making. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at Whitesides Elementary, where she supports schoolwide academic initiatives, leads data-driven instructional practices, and works closely with teachers to strengthen classroom instruction and student outcomes.

A familiar and trusted presence within the school, Ms. Bodie has built strong relationships with students, staff, and families and has demonstrated a deep commitment to the Whitesides community. Her continued leadership reflects a clear investment in the school’s success and a dedication to ensuring every student is supported and challenged to grow.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Bodie served as interim assistant principal and assistant administrator at Whitesides, as well as a literacy coach and literacy interventionist within CCSD. Her experience also includes classroom teaching across multiple grade levels, giving her a deep understanding of the full continuum of elementary education.

Throughout her career, Ms. Bodie has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving student achievement through collaboration, data-informed instruction, and meaningful support for educators. She has led professional learning communities, coordinated schoolwide assessments, and supported Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to ensure all students receive the support they need to succeed.
